Two For Tuesday - SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE  -  THOMAS DOLBY,    SEVEN SPIDERS

#5 IN 1983

When Songfacts spoke with Thomas Dolby in 2011, he told us that he wrote this '80s classic so he could direct a video using a silent movie motif in the style of the old Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton films: This song is about a scientist who falls in love with his lab assistant.

Mutt Lange sang backup on this track. Here's the connection: Dolby was busking in Paris when he was 19 years old, and he sent a tape with some of his songs to a London music publisher Lange worked for. The super-producer heard the tape and called Dolby in to work on Foreigner's 4 album, where he played the synth intro to "Waiting For A Girl Like You." Lange also had Dolby work on Def Leppard's Pyromania album, shortly after The Golden Age Of Wireless was released.

When it comes to a career, Healthcare may be your best bet. New Labor Department data identifies the fastest-growing jobs that pay more than $100,000 a year, and many of them are in healthcare. Nurse practitioners top the list, with projected job growth of 41% through 2035 and a median salary of about $132,000. Physician assistants, health services managers, physical therapists, and medical scientists also made the cut.

Tech jobs are still well represented, with data scientists, information security analysts, and computer research scientists all expected to see strong demand and six-figure salaries.

The report says an aging population and rising rates of chronic illnesses are fueling healthcare hiring, while cybersecurity and data-related roles remain in demand, despite concerns about AI disrupting some careers.
