Steven Shane Stebleton

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

2 Timothy 4:7

Steven Shane Stebleton entered the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ, on June 9th, 2026, after a valiant effort to overcome lung and kidney disease, including receiving a double lung transplant in 2023. Steve was 67 at the time he passed from death into Life Eternal.

A beloved Son, Husband, “Papa”, Brother, and Treasured Friend. Steve was born on January 18, 1959, in Glasgow, Montana to Frank and Ivy Stebleton. Steve grew up in Glasgow, Montana, graduating from Glasgow High School in 1977 and from Butte, Montana Vo-Tech in 1979.

Steve learned the value of hard work through employment with various enterprises, including Big Bud in Havre, Track-N-Wheel in Glasgow, Burlington Northern Railroad in Glasgow, Havre, and Minot, N.D. He also worked at Hauser Dam near Helena, Glasgow Irrigation District and KC Logistics in Williston, North Dakota.

In later years, Steve was an entrepreneur. In 2011, Steve, along with brother Doug Stebleton, established Stebleton Trucking Co. From 2011 to 2020, Steve and Doug ran four semi-trucks, hauling fresh water and fracking sand into the Bakken oil fields of western North Dakota. In 2014, Steve established S & S Welding in Glasgow. From 2014-2019, S&S Welding provided shielding gases and welding supplies to the greater Glasgow area.

Steve also was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His interest in motorcycles started with his first Yamaha dirt bike, which was purchased by his father in 1970. Steve raced dirt bikes throughout junior high, high school, and well into his adult years. His passion for motorcycles and especially Yamahas continued throughout his life, with his last motorcycle ride being in August 2023, the day before Steve traveled to California to wait for his lung transplant.

In 1988, Steve purchased a 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury, which sparked his love for Mopar cars. Steve became known as the “Mopar Guy”, due to his extensive collection of Mopar engines and car parts.

Steve’s marriage on July 16, 2016, to Mary (Wiens) Leisy was a game changer in Steve’s life! They had been part of the same friend group in high school and re-met in 2014. Steve was a motorcycle - car guy and Mary a horse girl but they embraced each other’s passions. The first two years of their marriage, they enjoyed several Jeep cross-country trips, motorcycle trips, and they welcomed a new foal into their small herd of horses.

Unfortunately, Steve’s health began to fail within two years of marriage.  In early 2021, Steve was diagnosed terminally ill with Interstitial lung disease. Steve and Mary’s marriage didn’t quite make it to their 10th anniversary, but as Steve stated, “We got welded together”.

Steve and Mary fought hard as a team for Steve’s life.  Steve did the hard painful work of tolerating the seemingly endless hospitalizations, medical procedures, needless, and pill taking. Mary was Steve’s constant advocate: navigating the insurance company, prescription drug companies, and hospital systems. When Steve was not hospitalized, Mary was his constant care giver.

The most important turning point in Steve’s life, occurred on August 31, 2023, when he asked Jesus Christ to come into his life as his Lord and Savior. This decision was transformational for Steve, giving him tremendous peace for both his temporal and eternal future, especially as he endured multiple serious and painful health complications, over the last two years and eight months of Steve’s life.

Steve’s double lung transplant was completed at Stanford University Medical Center on October 8, 2023. His lung transplant was completely successful but unfortunately Steve suffered from multiple other health complications that caused him to spend well over a year hospitalized from the time of his lung transplant.

Despite Steve’s, at times tremendous level of suffering, he remained gracious and positive to his care givers. When hospitalized at Stanford, which is a teaching hospital, Steve was willing to help the medical professionals in training, to practice on him, which included some very painful procedures. A true testimony to all, the depth of Steve’s character.

In addition to Mary, the love of his life, Steve is survived by brother, Joe Stebleton and Joe’s family: his daughter Angie and Raphael Gavin and grandson Xavi and son, Jeremy Stebleton; sister, Diane Brandt and husband Jim Brandt and their family, son, Matt and Amanda Brandt, grandsons Jake and Joshua and granddaughters Cambria and Sierra; son Dan Brandt and grandson Blaine; brothers Mike Stebleton and Doug Stebleton.

Steve is also survived by children and grandchildren by Steve’s marriage to Mary. They are Luke and Jessica Leisy (Drake, Stephanie and Troy), Cyrus and Lindsay Leisy, Josh and Jane Leisy (Peter) and Brian and Ginny Pfeifer (Molly and Maddy).

Steve was proceeded in death by his parents Frank and Ivy Stebleton and an infant granddaughter by marriage, Jessica Marie Leisy.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions in Steve's honor. A Steve Stebleton Memorial account has been set-up at Independence Bank in Glasgow, Montana.  Online condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuarymt.com.

Having experienced the large organ transplantation journey firsthand, Mary intends to donate all contributions to a nonprofit organization, supporting people facing the financial hardships of large organ transplantation.

Steve's family is grateful for your love and generosity!
