Alice Marie (Waetzig) Eide, 99, passed away of natural causes on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Montana.
Alice was born February 27, 1927, on a farm near Circle, Montana to parents Bert and Carmen (Wheadon) Waetzig. Her mother died when she was 4 years old, leaving her and four siblings. The children were placed in an orphanage in Great Falls, Montana. Three of the siblings were adopted by other families. But older brother Russell and Alice were kept together. Eventually, when they were older their dad took them to live with him. He worked on construction of Fort Peck Dam. They lived in Wilson, one of the boom towns during the dam construction. Later moving into Glasgow, Montana.
Alice graduated from Glasgow High School in 1945. She worked at the Valley County Court House and various government agencies. She retired from the Valley County Conservation District. She married Lloyd T. Eide on September 27, 1952. They raised three daughters.
Alice was confirmed in First Lutheran Church and was an active member. She participated in church choir, teaching Sunday School, a church circle, and quilting. She enjoyed sewing and made many clothes for the girls as they grew up. She was a member of Eastern Star and a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Carmen Waetzig, her husband Lloyd, a sister Leona, brothers Ervin and Russell, as well as an infant grandchild.
Alice is survived by daughters Stephanie (Glen) Meier, Heidi (Larry) See, Lisa (Les) Redfield, sister, Grace Maddock, seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Alice was a very caring person and always available to help someone in need. She never let anyone go hungry.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Bonnie Novak officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
