Robert J. "RJ" Hubbard
Celebration of life for Robert J. “RJ” Hubbard, 67, of Saint Marie, Montana, will be September 12, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Fort Peck VFW Post in Glasgow, Montana. Burial will take place at a future date in Augusta, Montana.
RJ passed away from health complications on September 1, 2026, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital.
He was born November 27, 1958, in Great Falls, Montana, to Robert Isham Hubbard and Judith Tilton Hubbard. He joined big sister Dianne. He attended several schools around Montana graduating from high school in White Sulphur Springs Montana where he played many sports and attended many rodeos. He went on to attend Montana State University in Bozeman and also Miles Community College.
He was married to Jeffrey, and three daughters were born: Rebecca, Amanda, and Jonelle. They later divorced. He married Tammy Dubois and they had a son Dillon Shane. They later divorced. With Sidney Bernhardt he gained three stepchildren: Marla, Ryan, and Kaylynn.
In the fall of 1997, he met Julie Hoover in Miles City and in July 1998 they were married. They embarked on many adventures working on ranches (LO and Diamond Ring Ranch), in feedlots, outfitting in the Bob Marshall Wilderness for Bear Creek Guest Ranch. He worked for the Department of Livestock as a brand inspector twice with the last post being in 2016 when he and Julie moved to Glasgow as he got the Market Supervisor position there. He worked for 14 years for Montana State University at Fort Keogh on the cowboy crew. He retired in 2023 from the Montana Department of Livestock.
He was an avid roper and stockman. He loved animals, especially his dogs. He enjoyed many activities such as braiding headstalls and reins, making fancy knots on keychains, tying halters, fishing, driving around looking at country, and visiting with friends. He was a member of the PRCA, Northern Rodeo Association, VFW Auxiliary, and a former member of the Cherry Creek Roping Club. He was also a history buff. He and Julie spent time exploring buffalo jumps and teepee rings on Fort Keogh and other areas.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; sisters, Dianne (Bob) Meinhardt and Kari (John Billy) Hubbard; his daughters: Rebecca, Amanda (Nadia) Baker, and Jonelle and their families as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Bob Hubbard, his mother Judy, and his son Dillon.
