Donna Kay Whittle

Donna Kay Whittle passed peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 30, 2026, at the age of 79, with her family watching over her. Donna was born on April 4, 1947 in Glasgow, Montana to Chris and Agnes Molvig. Donna, the sixth of eight Molvig children, was raised in Tampico and attended Kindergarten through Eighth Grade at the Tampico School. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1965 and went on to attend Eastern Montana College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education. After a brief student-teaching stint in Miles City, she returned to Glasgow to teach English and Social Studies. She married John Whittle on April 1, 1972 at First Lutheran Church and they were blessed with two children, Adam and Amy. Donna continued her path as an educator and mother, substitute teaching, leading a precocious troop of Girl Scouts for almost a decade, teaching Sunday school, and raising her children.

One of Donna’s most treasured roles was being an aunt.  She loved watching all nineteen of her nieces and nephews grow through their sports and activities and attended as many events as she could. She adored being a part of their lives and being present as they married and began families all their own. Being a Mom to Adam and Amy was Donna’s greatest joy. She spent much of her time teaching them how to be, driving them to and from activities and imparting a lifetime of lessons learned, the most important of those being the art of caring for others.  Her favorite new role was being a Grandma to Abby and watching her grow into a spunky toddler.

When Donna wasn’t volunteering in a classroom, being a Girl Scout Leader, board member for Scottie Day Care, she somehow managed to find time to take care of those around her. She was a caretaker and confidant to many family members running here and there, taking them to the doctor or just stopping by for a visit. Donna was best known for her kind and caring nature. She often could be found listening to a stranger or acquaintance’s joys and struggles, offering random compliments or striking up a conversation in the grocery line. The best way to honor her is by complimenting people because you may have just made their day.

Family was so important to Donna. She was once told that she was the luckiest lady because she had the kindest mother and mother-in-law. As the years passed her sisters became her favorite friends. They would go to dinner every Wednesday, enjoy a fancy coffee on Fridays, seek out the best garage sales on the weekends, and even fit in a bit of travel now and again.  When she wasn’t running all over Glasgow, she was birdwatching, catching up on her soaps or getting lost in a good book or two. She was her husband’s favorite co-pilot, and they enjoyed fifty-four wonderful years of daily drives, side by side.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Chris and Agnes Molvig, her in-laws LeRoy and Fern Whittle, her sisters Dorothy Kolstad and Carol Kreer, her brother Robert Molvig and brother in-laws John Kreer, Phil Whittle and Brent Murray.

She is survived by her husband John, son Adam, daughter Amy (Brad) Kahler, granddaughter Abby, sister Alyce (Lee) Tracy, brothers: Charles (Coni) Molvig, Ken (Jean) Molvig, Rick (Alison) Molvig, sisters-in-law Lois (Jim) Davidson, Colleen Murray, Tiny Whittle, and brother-in-law David (Bev) Whittle. She is also survived by her countless doting nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her cousins the Nelsons, Kirklands, Flesjers and Risas.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., at First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, Montana with Max Knodel officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the church basement at 3:00 p.m. Burial is planned for 5:00 p.m. at Glasgow Highland Cemetery. If you feel inclined, donations can be made in Donna’s name to either Scottie Daycare, First Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.  Condolences may be left online at bellmortuarymt.com.
