Myrt Bamford (Dale)

Myrt Bamford (Dale), passed away at her home March 2nd, 2026. She was born in Glasgow, MT to Hazel and Byron Dale. She was the middle of 5 children: Wayne, Carol, John and Rhea.

Myrt grew up in Fort Peck, MT, raised by the loving hands of her grandparents, Clifford and Lucille Doke. She attended grade school there and was a proud cheerleader for the Mighty Midgets. She reminisced frequently of the idyllic childhood she had. She recalled the memories of growing up in Fort Peck during the 40’s and early 50’s. She enjoyed sledding the coulees, spending evenings at the skating rink in the winter, and swimming at the pool in the summer. Movies at the theater were 10 cents. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1958.

She was a talented bookkeeper with a keen eye and worked at numerous businesses in the Glasgow area. She worked for Weight Watchers for several years and was a great support to women. She was a member of the Fort Peck senior citizens and garden club.

She met the love of her life, Glyn, and they married August 18th, 1972. She brought 3 children to the marriage, all of whom Glyn adopted, making their family complete. He was the greatest gift to her and our family. They had a wonderful marriage full of love and laughter.

In 1984, Glyn’s work brought them to Billings, which they both enjoyed, but Myrt often talked about returning to the wide-open prairies of Northeast Montana. After 30 years she finally returned home, retiring to their cabin on Fort Peck Lake. She loved it there, and each day found joy in her surroundings.

Myrt loved to visit with people. She was a gregarious, loving person who always met others with a beaming smile and a kind word. She truly enjoyed the company of her friends at the Cadillac Corner in the Montana Bar. She was an exceptional gardener and had a vast knowledge of plants and trees. She loved to cross stitch and created many beautiful pieces. With the assistance of her daughter Nancy, she made quilts for each of her grandchildren.

Each of her children was vital to the happiness in her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was so proud to have 5 great grandchildren.

Myrt is preceded in death by her husband, Glyn Bamford, parents Hazel Holland and Byron Dale, her grandparents Clifford and Lucille Doke, brother Wayne Dale, and her nephew Mark Dale. She is survived by her three children Barry (Irasema) Bamford, Kae (Steve) Sukut, and Nancy (Randy) Lasar. Her six grandchildren Hannah Sukut, Chloe (Skyler) Bridges, Jacy O'Neill (Desmond Fialkosky), Randall Lasar, and Nicole and Bryan Bamford. Her five great grandchildren Margot, Blair, and Sloan Bridges, Pete and Bodhi Fialkosky, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

After her cancer diagnosis 2 years ago, her sister Rhea never left her side. She was her best friend, confidant, chef and chauffeur. Rhea showered her with love, patience, and kindness. Our family will be forever grateful to her.

We will miss you Mom. Your life, love, and the lessons you taught us will continue to guide us. Wherever you are, you will always be in our hearts.

Services will be held at the Evangelical Church in Glasgow, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with Steve Sukut officiating. Committal Service will be at Highland Cemetery immediately following the Memorial Service. A Reception will follow at the Glasgow Elks Club.

Honorary pallbearers: Travis Kittleson, John and Deb Partridge, Clay Kittleson, Lance Monson, Milt and Patty Hallock, Rick Molvig, Dale and Donna Borgen.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Myrt’s memory to the FMDH Foundation and the GHS scholarship fund.
