Richard Kon Fuhrman, 80, of Glasgow, Montana, passed away on April 20, 2026, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, with family by his side.
Richard was born on May 22, 1945, in Glasgow, Montana to Helen Fuhrman. He was the oldest of seven children. He attended several different schools including Sunny Side country school, Nashua school and Glasgow school before moving in with his grandparents, Kon and Emma Fuhrman, in Larslan, Montana to finish out his high school years. He graduated from Opheim High School in 1963. He briefly attended Eastern Montana College (now MSU-Billings) and MSU-Bozeman before returning home to farm and ranch.
Richard was united in marriage to Diane Stannebein in 1965, and they welcomed a son, Konrich, in 1968. The couple later divorced. In 1974 he married Judy Braun. Together they built a life and raised five children: Todd, Tana, Tadd, Tigh, and Tami.
Richard spent much of his life farming and ranching south of Richland and in the surrounding area before retiring and moving to Townsend, Montana in 2008. After seven years of living the retired life in what he considered a “warmer climate”, he and Judy returned to Glasgow in 2015 to be closer to kids and grandkids.
Richard loved making a living farming and ranching. He truly loved his cows, his “babies” as he called them. He was a very proud grandpa and great-grandpa, and family meant everything to him. He grew up surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who remained important throughout his life. He was happiest when all his kids were together with him and Judy, though that became more difficult over the years.
In a heartbreaking loss for the family, Richard’s son, Tadd (Kelli) Fuhrman of Missoula, Montana passed away shortly after Richard.
Richard is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy; his children: Konrich (Cheri) Fuhrman of Thompson Falls, MT; Todd (Ronda) Fuhrman of Richland, MT; Tana (Mike) Fuhrman of Missoula, MT; Tigh (Stephanie) Fuhrman of Opheim, MT; and Tami (Garth) Loftsgaard of Glasgow, MT; daughter-in-law Kelli Gibbs of Missoula, MT, and bonus son Paul Feezell. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Luke (Stephanie) Fuhrman of Thompson Falls, MT, Gage (Anna) Fuhrman of Thompson Falls, MT, Tyra (Jeret) Warren of Malta, MT, Tevan Fuhrman of Williston, ND; Hayden Fuhrman of Missoula, MT, and Ainsley, Tate, Avi, and Tegan Loftsgaard of Glasgow, MT; and great-grandchildren: Konrich, Colter, Tris, and Tade. He is further survived by his brother Lee (Penny) Murch of Glasgow, MT and sister Pam Bicker of Glasgow, MT. As well as many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews that were a big part of his life.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (Fuhrman) Rennick; his grandparents Kon and Emma Fuhrman; and his siblings Al Murch, Ed Rennick, Charlie Rennick, and Carl Rennick.
Per Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held May 23, 2026 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Mint Bar in Opheim, MT. Food will be served. Friends and family are invited to stop by, share a meal, and celebrate Richard’s life.
