Lila (Chris) Lucretia Cornwell-Vaughn

Lila (Chris) Lucretia Cornwell-Vaughn, age 88, passed away on 12/27/25 at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Montana from complications related to a fall.

Born May 2, 1937, Chris loved flowers and watching the birds at the many feeders in her own backyard. She also loved sewing and quilting throughout her life. Chris enjoyed bookkeeping at the original Glasgow Clinic for Dr. Gregory and Dr. Bell as well as for the David Irving Law Firm. We are not sure how many times, but Chris attempted to retire a number of times before she got it right at the age of 80.

Chris graduated in 1955 from Glasgow High School and went on to study nursing in Great Falls. She met her husband Melvin G Vaughn in Great Falls where he was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base and they were married Dec. 27th, 1956. They had a daughter Kimberly J Rowe (Doug) in Sept 1957 and a son Kendall R Vaughn (Tracie) in May 1959. Her grandchildren include Ryan Fisher, Katie Simolke (Mike), Chris Smith (Laura), Corey Smith (Roseann), Tanica Vaughn, Becky Arnoux (Gillean), Kendall Austin Vaughn, Samantha Rowe, and Kendra Vaughn. She also has 9 great grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandson. Many other Cornwell relatives and Friends in Glasgow and everywhere she went.

Chris is preceded in death by her husband Mel, her parents Thomas and Lila Cornwell, her brother Tommy Cornwell (Mary Lou) and Grandchildren Ryan Fisher and Kendall Austin Vaughn.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 1:00p.m. at the Glasgow Evangelical Church.

Chris was loved by all and dedicated to helping others in any way she could.
