Glasgow School Board to Take Up Budget at Tonight's Meeting

The Glasgow School Board will be asked to approve the school district’s 2026-2027 budget tonight.

The total budget comes to approximately 10-point-654 million dollars, with the district’s general fund accounting for about 7-point-449 million dollars.

That’s an increase from last year’s general fund budget of approximately 7-point-379 million dollars.

Despite the larger general fund budget, the district is receiving less state aid this year because of declining enrollment.

The state provided funding based on 805 students last year, compared with just 788 students this year.

The general fund is the district’s largest budget category. The biggest expense is employee salaries, at approximately 6-point-876 million dollars.

The district is budgeting another 2-point-056 million dollars for employee benefits.

Other major general fund expenses include about 364-thousand dollars for supplies, 345-thousand dollars for food supplies, 168-thousand dollars for property insurance, and 154-thousand dollars for electricity.

The school board will consider and is expected to vote on the 2026-2027 budget during its meeting tonight.
