$18.4 Million Dollar Highway Construction Project Underway Between Glasgow and Fort Peck

Motorists traveling between Fort Peck and Glasgow will see a major highway construction project get underway as the Montana Department of Transportation begins work on a 13-point-8-mile section of Montana Highway 24.

The project, known as the Fort Peck Northwest Rehabilitation Project, was awarded for construction in 2026 at a cost of approximately 18-point-4 million dollars.

The project runs along Highway 24 northwest of Fort Peck toward Glasgow, between reference markers 59-point-55 and 73-point-3.

The existing highway surface will be pulverized and then covered with a new asphalt overlay.

The roadway will also be widened to provide two-foot shoulders.

The project includes a chip seal, new rumble strips, upgraded highway signs and pavement markings.

MDT will also make improvements to guardrails, including replacing guardrail end sections and repairing or resetting guardrail that was installed incorrectly.

The project is part of MDT's effort to rehabilitate the highway and improve the driving surface and safety along the route between Fort Peck and Glasgow.

The construction contract was awarded for 18-million, 443-thousand, 658 dollars.

Motorists should expect construction activity and possible traffic impacts as work progresses along the 13-point-8-mile section of Highway 24.
