Alzheimer’s disease and dementia affect thousands of Montanans, and a mobile memory care unit will be making a stop in Glasgow next week.
The MSU Mobile Memory Care and Dementia Awareness Unit will be at the Glasgow Senior Citizens Center on Thursday, August 27th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The visit provides an opportunity for area residents and families to learn more about memory health, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and resources available to those dealing with memory-related concerns.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 21,000 Montanans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s disease. That represents about 9.8 percent of Montana residents over the age of 65.
The Alzheimer’s Association also estimates that 18,000 caregivers in Montana provide about 26 million hours of unpaid care each year to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
Organizers say the mobile memory care unit is designed to bring information and resources directly into communities.
Again, the mobile memory care unit will be at the Glasgow Senior Citizens Center Thursday, August 27th, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Residents who have questions about memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, or who are caring for a loved one, are encouraged to stop by.
