On Saturday, June 13, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Valley County Dispatch was notified by a concerned citizen regarding a white Honda van traveling westbound near Nashua that was being driven erratically. Sheriff Boyer was patrolling in the Town of Nashua and responded to the area. At mile marker 554 near Old Smokey Road and U.S. Highway 2, he located the white Honda van pulled over on the shoulder with its hazard lights activated.
Upon approaching the vehicle, two adult Hispanic males were observed inside. Open alcoholic beverage containers were visible on the passenger-side floorboard and in the cup holders of the center console. Neither male spoke English. The individuals were separated and detained after providing identification cards from Guatemala. Neither person possessed a valid driver’s license. Both males admitted they were unlawfully present in the United States.
Further investigation revealed that one of the males had previously been deported from the United States on two separate occasions. The males stated they had been residing in the United States for approximately six and seven years, respectively.
During the investigation, both males stated they had been working on the roof of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Powerhouse near Fort Peck, Montana.
U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Scobey Station were contacted and responded. Arrangements were made for Border Patrol to take custody of both individuals for immigration enforcement proceedings and removal from the United States.
