It’s been 15 years since the Mighty Mo roared and Fort Peck Reservoir filled!
On June 15, 2011, we hit a record pool of 2252.36 feet, breaking the 1975 record! The record pool was the result of a rare combination of heavy spring rains and a massive mountain snowpack melt across the upper Missouri River basin.
It was an incredible display of engineering and teamwork as we managed record-breaking inflows to the Missouri River system. Despite the record-breaking pool, USACE teams successfully managed a combined release of nearly 66,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) through the powerhouse and spillway, effectively doubling the previous record release from 1975.
Dam safety inspections completed just last week show the dam in great condition, ready for more water!
