A recent survey by the Pew Research Center reveals that 40% of people have taken at least one step to look younger. Other findings:

- 27% of people have colored their hair specifically to look younger

- 45% of women have colored their hair to cover grays, compared with 8% of men

- 73% of women have either colored their hair or would consider doing so, compared with 29% of men

- 5% of Americans have actually received nonsurgical cosmetic procedures specifically to look younger

- 20% of upper-income women have received nonsurgical cosmetic treatments

How much time do you spend in the bathroom? According to a new survey, we spend a lot of time in there. The average adult is estimated to spend 416 days of their life in the bathroom. Men spend about 373 days in total (roughly 23 minutes per day), while women spend about 456 days (around 29 minutes per day). 

That time isn't just spent showering or getting ready — many people also use the bathroom as a place to read, check emails, relax, or simply enjoy a little peace and quiet. 

The survey also revealed that sharing a bathroom can be a source of frustration, with common complaints including empty toilet roll holders, hair in the drain, and family members taking too long.

And because you can’t observe French Fry Day without ketchup  … Food & Wine put several popular brands through a blind taste test to find out which is the king of ketchups. Tasters compared flavor, sweetness, acidity, texture, and overall balance without knowing which brand they were trying. The big takeaway: while a few competitors impressed the judges, classic Heinz remained a standout because of its familiar balance of tomato flavor, sweetness, and tang. Testers noted that some store brands were either too sweet, too vinegary, or lacked a strong tomato taste.

Reuters says Netflix is exploring live TV and bundles as it struggles to keep U.S. viewers hooked.  Their plan is to mix live channels with their streaming library.  Analysts say the move could help growth in a crowded market.  Publishers see it as a shift away from pure streaming.

The NY Post says several Northern California restaurants are letting guests name their price for meals. The naming is part of a global move where diners decide what the meal is worth. The restaurants are starting with a one-day experiment to see how it goes. Two five star Michelin restaurants are taking part. One of the restaurants does a tasting menu that costs $238 per person

NBC says the FBI is warning singles about an increase in dating app robberies. Officials say culprits use dating apps to arrange a private meeting before robbing their victims.  In one case, a meeting ended with a suspect brandishing a firearm and forcing the victim to withdraw money from an ATM.

The Wilkes-Barre Citizens' Voice says two Ashley, Pennsylvania firefighters were recently arrested for calling in false alarms.  Capt. Zachary Gensel and Cody Wilson made the calls between January 1st and May 27th, 2025.  They are charged with 60 misdemeanor counts of calling in false alarms. An internal investigation found Gensel texted 911 while at work. They said they made the calls because they were bored

A Montana portable toilet company says vandals blew up at least 13 porta-potties over the July 4th holiday, causing more than $12,000 in damage. The owner of Urapeein Porta Pots in Billings says most of the toilets were located at residential construction sites around town, where crews returned after the long weekend to find units destroyed and debris scattered across job sites. The company says they lose a few toilets to fireworks every year, but this year’s damage was far worse than usual. They suspect the fireworks may have been purchased in neighboring Wyoming, arguing that Montana’s legal fireworks generally aren’t powerful enough to cause that level of destruction. The company says the losses will largely come out of its own pocket and is urging people to think twice before turning portable toilets into holiday targets. (Cowboy State Daily)

A 63-year-old Florida man is facing theft charges after deputies say he used a stolen debit card to go on an Amazon shopping spree -- and then accidentally helped investigators build their case. According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, a shopper accidentally left her bank card in a propane exchange machine outside a Walmart in Palm Coast. Detectives traced fraudulent Amazon purchases back to David Cardoso Gomes, who allegedly used the card to buy about $79 worth of items, including door hinges and Axe body spray. Investigators say that when Gomes was questioned, he denied using the card and pulled up his own Amazon account to prove it. Deputies say the account showed the disputed purchases -- shipped directly to his home. Gomes was arrested and charged with possession of personal identifying information without consent and petit theft. (WTVT-TV Tampa)
