For some of us, just getting out of bed in the morning can be one of the most challenging tasks of the day. A lot of people immediately reach for their phones and start scrolling before they’ve even gotten up, and that’s not doing any favors for their mental health. According to experts, the way you spend your first few minutes after waking up can send your brain right into stress mode.

Hot dog season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Over that time, Americans eat about 7 billion hot dogs, which works out to about 818 hot dogs per second.

Which cities are the most hot dog-lovin’? According to the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council, Los Angeles residents consume more hot dogs than any other city (more than 27 million pounds), beating out New York and Dallas.

A new survey by OnePoll reveals that 60% of people have put off making improvements to their life because the effort felt too great. Other findings:
- 28% of people have decided against starting a new fitness routine because it feels like too much of a time commitment
- 18% of people have put off career changes or applying for a new job altogether because it would be too much trouble for too little return

WFMJ says a Facebook scam is trending . A Boardman, Ohio couple recently found a fake Facebook support number online. They called it. The couple was greeted by a male scammer who claimed he could help.  He asked for their VISA card, Capital One card and Sam's Club card numbers. All attempted transactions were denied, so the couple did not lose any money. Police told them to cancel their cards

A viral TikTok trend featuring banana milk in coffee drinks, cold foams, and matchas has sparked a full-on banana craze. Now food brands are jumping on the bandwagon, rolling out everything from Dunkin’s “Goin’ Bananas” menu to M&M’s Banana Nut Bread candies and Little Debbie’s Banana Puddin’ Cream Pies. Califia Farms even fast-tracked a new Banana Crème Almond Creamer to cash in on the trend. Will banana flavor become the next pumpkin spice obsession? That remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear: when TikTok gets behind something, brands pay attention. And right now, everyone seems to be going bananas.

The Robb Report says 1800 Tequila is launching a new $11,000 tequila. The decanter was designed by the late Mexican artist Pedro Friedeberg.  The tequila was aged for three years in American and French oak casks that once held wine.

Delish magazine says Cheetos and Blumhouse Films recently teamed up for a horror-inspired flavor. Cheetos' Sweet Phantom Heat Flavored Puffs begin with a cinnamon sugar taste and then bring bold heat. Fans can expect tingling, fizzing, and numb feelings as you chew.  They will be sold nationwide starting on August 31st.

The Daily Mail says a Cadbury's golden egg, found by Clive Pinder in Somerset, England, was recently auctioned off for $165,000. The three-inch egg was made for a 1983 national treasure hunt. The 22-carat egg is named "Cuckoo Cuckoo" and was created by Garrard & Co of London.  Six of the twelve eggs were found.

While all the tech bros in Silicon Valley charge ahead into artificial intelligence, a growing community of retro tech fans are fighting to preserve the classic hardware that started the digital revolution. Earlier this month, hobbyists and collectors gathered at the annual Vintage Computer Federation festival to show off their fully restored Commodore, Atari, and IBM machines. It's kind of like a car show — for computer nerds. This year’s festival brought out more than 3,500 fans, along with Apple co-founders Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apple's founding. Even though there will continue to be high-tech breakthroughs, it seems more and more people are enjoying the old classics.

While plenty of people are annoyed by AI slop — and rightly so — a new study found that, in many cases, people like stories generated by AI more than they like stories written by humans. Researchers found that the simple style of writing by AI is often easier to read and digest. The study author suggested we "may need to make room for AI-generated stories," but that doesn't mean we shouldn’t appreciate the process of human creativity.

The Nerd Stash says a recent Iowa church service featured a kiss cam and a hot dog launcher. A video of the scene was posted on TikTok  Viewers debated whether worship had turned into entertainment.  Some called the stunt inappropriate, while others defended it as light-hearted.

KTXL says a man on probation was recently arrested after driving to his probation officer in a stolen car. A witness saw Joshua Thatch steal the car from a Sacramento County, California McDonald's. Thatch was stopped and taken into custody. He told cops he was on his way to check in with his probation officer. Joshua was on probation for grand theft.

CBS says two juveniles recently rode their E-moto dirt bikes through a Naples, Florida Target store. 16 year-old Colin Jeske and 12 year-old Gardner Little crashed into fixtures, disrupted customers, and burned rubber near the entrance. They were charged with felony criminal mischief

Dexerto says an Arizona man recently robbed the Shake Shack where he works. Keondre Simmons forced staffers into a walk-in cooler and took $3,000. He then returned to the job several days later. Simmons was arrested on robbery and kidnapping charges.
