Glasgow City Council Notes

The Glasgow City Council met in regular session on June 15.

Among the action items approved by the council:

The council awarded the City of Glasgow's gasoline and diesel fuel contract for Fiscal Year 2026-27 to Ezzie's Wholesale. The total bid was $53,945 for just over 15,000 gallons of fuel.

The council also awarded the city's solid waste collection contract to T&R Trucking for the next three years. As a result of increased contract costs, changes to solid waste assessments are expected. Commercial customers generating the largest volumes of waste will see the biggest increases. For example, a commercial customer producing more than 3,601 cubic yards of garbage annually will see an assessment increase of 326 percent. Residential customers, however, are expected to see a decrease in assessments of 3.6 percent.

Under the new contract, the cost to the city will be $496,960 in the first year, $540,028 in the second year, and $583,096 in the third year.

The council declined to award a contract to Century Construction for the Sullivan Park Home Run Pond Path Rehabilitation Project. The lone bid came in at $104,515. Council members chose to rebid the project in hopes of receiving a lower bid.

The council also approved interim promotions within the Glasgow Police Department. Officer Norman Dick was promoted to lieutenant, and Officer Corey Sager was promoted to sergeant.

The council also agreed to increase the pay for Captain Tyler Edwards as he has been performing the duties of Chief of Police since the retirement of former Chief Robert Weber.
