Press Release from Valley County Sheriff's Office

Two Guatemalan nationals are facing immigration enforcement action after being stopped by law enforcement near Nashua.

According to the Valley County Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a report Saturday morning of a white Honda van being driven erratically west of Nashua. Sheriff Tom Boyer located the vehicle parked on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 2 near Old Smokey Road.

Authorities say two adult males were inside the van. During the investigation, deputies discovered open alcoholic beverage containers in the vehicle. The men reportedly provided Guatemalan identification cards and did not have valid driver's licenses.

The Sheriff's Office says both men admitted they were in the United States illegally. Investigators also learned that one of the individuals had previously been deported from the country twice.

According to authorities, the men told deputies they had been working on the roof of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Powerhouse near Fort Peck.

U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Scobey Station responded to the scene and took both men into custody for immigration enforcement proceedings.
