GWC Closes Regular Season in Sidney, Looks Ahead to Postseason

The Glasgow Wrestling Club closed this year's regular season at the Annual Brodie Gorder Memorial in Sidney over the weekend.  On Saturday, both our Boys and the Girls teams took part in the Brodie Gorder "Iron Eagle" Dual Tournament and battled some of the toughest teams in the region along the way.  The Girls finished in 5th Place out of 11 teams and finished with a 4-2 overall Dual record.  Kennedy Flaten (5-0), TenLea Sundeen (3-0), and Olive Marks (6-0) all finished undefeated during the Duals.  Riley Pattison (5-1) and Rygan Gamas (2-1) both finished with only one defeat.  The Boys closed with 3 wins and 2 losses in the Dual Tournament; finishing in a tie for 9th place out of 21 teams from Montana and North Dakota.  Theo Marks, Walker Kirkland, Eli Holinde, Taden Sundeen, Saunten Gamas, and Zane Cotrell ALL finished undefeated at 5-0 during the Duals.  Justin Miller, Brands Casterline, Tate Lehner, Jett Morehouse, Thomas Cotrell, and Asher Wersal each finished at 4-1 during the Duals.    

On Sunday, the Highlanders took part in the Brodie Gorder Individual Tournament held at both Sidney High School and the Richland County Event Center.  This year's event featured 766 kids from 47 different clubs.  GWC had 35 wrestlers competing with 23 boys and 12 girls hitting the mats.  Overall, the Highlanders finished with seven Individual CHAMPIONS and twenty two Individual place winners.  

Over the next two weekends the team will head into postseason with back to back premier weekends at the famed Billings Metra.  Next weekend will be State AAU with the Montana Open to follow the weekend after.  The Highlanders will be sending HUGE teams to both events with 70+ expected to wrestle on each weekend.
