Darrell C. Brenna

Darrell C. Brenna passes away at the age of 92, in Glasgow, Montana at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital on March 26, 2026.

Darrell was born on December 14, 1933, in Watford City, North Dakota, to Clifford and Minnie (Sorterberg) Brenna. He was the youngest child from that union. He attended grade school in Nashua, Montana, then middle school and high school in Glasgow, Montana. Darrell then joined the US Air Force in 1952 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan for two years and then stateside in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Nellis Air Force Base for another two years. After returning home, Darrell helped with farming for his sister and brother-in-law at the Shellrud farm in Richland, Montana. In 1956, he attended barber school in Spokane, Washington. He then returned home and worked for Swede Landsvirk in the Rundle building. From 1987 to 2014, he owned and operated his own barber shop in the Montana Bar at the request of Paul Monson. Darrell barbered for fifty-seven years and was the last of the old-time barbers in town.

In 1957, he married Dolores Pecora and had four children – Marlys, Thomas, Daria, and Theresa. Years later, he married Sue Schakosky and helped raise her children – Brenda, Derrick, and Jessica.

Survivors include his children and grandchildren: Elijah, Derek, Jessica, Krystal, Carlyle, Mindy, Dylan, Brandon, Jacob, Rayshell, Amanda, and Kevin; along with twenty-three great-grandchildren. He also leaves his older sister, Carine Shellrud, of Mesa, AZ, and his brothers Clifton and Kenneth Brenna, of Livingston, MT. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sheila Gannes, brother Carlyle Brenna, and his first and second wives.

Darrell always took great interest in the lives of all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by attending various school functions, sporting events, and social engagements both near and far. Whether talking about baseball, Packers football, or teaching his grandchildren how to fish, he always made it a point to visit and be present in the lives of those he loved, and he will be missed dearly.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Bell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on April 4, 2026, at 11:00a.m. at Bell Mortuary.
