Glasgow Scotties Distance Camp Slated For June 19

All current and prospective Glasgow Scottie cross-country athletes are invited to a 1-day distance running camp and clinic hosted by Glasgow High and Glasgow Middle School coaches. The camp will be held on Friday, June 19, at Glasgow’s Evangelical Church. Elementary-age runners will attend from 9 a.m. to noon, and middle and high school runners will attend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost for the camp is $15, which includes snacks, lunch, and a t-shirt available only to attendees.

The guest speaker is Iris McKean, a 2022 GHS graduate and 2026 University of Montana graduate. During her career as a Scottie, Iris was a multi-year All-State finisher in track and cross country. She just completed four years as a decorated UM Griz runner and will talk about her experience, the importance of building team dynamics, and how running gave her purpose, challenges, and a sense of community.

The Scottie Distance Camp will include scavenger hunts, riddle runs, relay races, and the opportunity to bond with Scotties of every age and ability.

Contact GHS cross country head coach Tim Phillips at 263-1144 or GMS head coach Michael Kelsey at 406-696-2623 for information or email coach Andrew McKean at montanamckean@gmail.com. Or visit the Glasgow Scotties Cross Country page on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/glasgowscottiexc.
