Widespread Rain Expected Starting Late Wednesday Night

Cooler temperatures starting today and continuing through Friday.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms possible today (Wednesday) with a marginal risk of severe storms along and east of the Yellowstone River.
Large hail and damaging winds are the severe weather threats today.
Rain becomes widespread tonight and Thursday, continuing through Friday.
There is a slight risk for excessive rain occurring on Thursday and a marginal risk for excessive rain on Friday.
Heaviest rain is expected Thursday night and Friday.
Gravel roads will likely become wet gumbo with travel becoming very difficult.
One inch or more total rainfall is possible for most of northeast Montana today through Friday.
Flooding is possible if heavy rain does occur.

Be mindful about spending time in low creek and stream crossings since heavy rain may lead to rises in streams and creeks.

If you are recreating or working in fields, make sure to be mindful around metal objects in case of nearby lightning.

Backroads and two track roads may become mushy and make you lose traction, even in Four Wheel Drive trucks. Save the roads from needing extra maintenance if possible.
