MFU Legislative Advocacy Trainings Coming To Lewistown, Glasgow, Malta, Plentywood

Become a more effective advocate during several upcoming Montana Farmers Union's Legislative Advocacy Training for Farmers and Ranchers workshops. The free, public advocacy trainings are being offered across the state by MFU, a grassroots, non-partisan organization, with upcoming sessions planned:

  • noon-2 p.m., April 21, Toodie's Cafe in Glasgow,
  • 6-8 p.m., April 21, Cousin's Family Restaurant in Plentywood,
  • noon-2 p.m., April 22, Great Northern Hotel's Lodge Room in Malta, and
  • 6-8 p.m., April 22, Brooks Market in Lewistown.

Attendees at the events can expect hands-on activities to hone advocacy skills. Participants also will have the opportunity to share their priorities and how depressed commodity markets, consolidation, the lack of a reauthorized Farm Bill, and other policies impact their farms and ranches with current lawmakers and candidates.

During the events, attendees will:

  • share their legislative priorities ahead of the 2027 Montana Legislature,
  • meet lawmakers, county commissioners, and candidates,
  • learn how to use the state's legislative website,
  • practice calling legislators,
  • write a draft Letter to the Editor
  • learn how to become involved in MFU's legislative efforts on behalf of family farmers and ranchers.
