Deceased Man Found at Nelson Reservoir in Phillips County

PRESS RELEASE:

Wednesday, June 24th, 2026

At approximately 1410 hours on Thursday, June 18th, the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a possibly deceased individual at the State Park boat ramp at Nelson Reservoir. The PCSO Undersheriff, Deputies, and the Phillips County Ambulance responded.

Upon arrival, it was determined that the male subject was deceased.

The deceased subject was positively identified and determined to be from the Billings area. Out of respect for the family, his identity is not being released as of this time.

Due to the circumstances presented, the State Park boat ramp was temporarily closed for several hours while the scene was processed. The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are actively investigating this incident and those investigations are on-going.

Our Office would like to extend our condolences to the subject’s family during this difficult time.
