GHS Students Compete in Academic Olympics

Two Glasgow teams competed in the Academic Olympics held at Glasgow High School on Wednesday, March 25. Twenty Seven area schools of varying sizes competed in written tests in four subjects (math, English, social studies, and science) and an oral quiz round.

Glasgow Team 1 was made up of Gage Anderson (12th grade), Eva Hlad (11th), Justis Hirsch-Kreuser (11th), Joseph Hall (10th), and Rayne Jenkins (9th). Glasgow Team 2 consisted of Annika Smith (12th), Khye Gamas (12th), Jackson Abern (11th), Amelia Gilchrist (10th), and Amani Probert (9th).

Glasgow Team 1 earned second place on the total written test scores, losing to Sidney 1. Glasgow 1 and 2 both lost in the semifinals of the oral round to Glendive 1 and 2, who competed for first.

Several students earned individual awards for their performance on the written tests. Gage Anderson was part of a three-way tie for first in the math test. He also tied for tenth in both English and science, and earned third place in social studies. Annika Smith tied for third on the English test. Justis Hirsch-Kreuser tied for tenth in English. Joseph Hall tied for eighth in social studies.

While not all students placed, all of them contributed to their team score and the oral round and helped the general success of both teams.
