2 Juveniles Arrested on Fort Peck Indian Reservation after Machete Attack

Two Poplar teens have initially been charged with attempted murder after an attack that occurred on Poplar’s east side on Monday, March 30.

Northern Plains Independent:

According to the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice, they received a report at about 8 p.m. on Monday regarding an 11-year-old boy who suffered deep lacerations to his right knee. He was transported to the emergency room and then flown to Billings. Law officials said the boy will need surgery to repair the knee.

Later that evening or early the next morning, law enforcement arrested a 12-year-old male suspect and a 13-year-old female accomplice. They were originally charged with attempted murder, but prosecutors might lessen the charges. Both suspects were incarcerated. The investigation remains active. The weapon was believed to be a machete.

Law enforcement doesn’t know yet why the attack occurred.
