Median Age in Montana Continues to Rise

The U.S. Census Bureau is reporting that the median age for Montana residents continues to increase. The median age for 2024 is 40.4 compared to 30.7 in 2010. Of the surrounding states, Montana has the highest median age. Compared to Idaho at 37.3, Wyoming at 39.1, South Dakota at 38 and North Dakota at 35.9.

In 2024, the median age in Valley County was 44 compared to the statewide median of 40.4. The national median age is 38.5 while the median age of Glasgow residents is 44.6.

In Phillips County the median age is 45.6, Roosevelt County 30.9 and Daniels County 53.4. 

The youngest county in Montana is Big Horn County with a median age of 29 while the oldest county is Golden Valley County is 53.
