Highway 2 Is Now CLOSED From Dodson To Wolf Point

(2nd photo from Phillips County Sheriff's Department)

The Montana Department of Transportation has now closed Highway 2 from Dodson to Wolf Point due to extremely low visibilities due to blowing dust. As of late Thursday morning, sustained winds in Glasgow were at 43mph with gusts at 67mph, with the possibility of 80mph gusts.

The National Weather Service has issued a Blowing Dust Advisory for northeast Montana until 6 p.m. with visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust. The High Wind Warning continues until midnight, with west winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 80 mph.

As of noon, Montana Highway 13 between Wolf Point and Circle was closed due to a crash.

The Glasgow School District canceled all rural bus routes for this afternoon. Tonight’s MS/HS Spring Music Concerts at GHS have been postponed. The band portion of the concert will take place on Tuesday, May 26, at 5:00 PM.

From the National Weather Service office in Glasgow: The Glasgow airport has gusted to 81 mph so far today, which is by far a new record for the month of May (previously 69 mph). The only higher gusts on record are 92 mph in October 2024 and 82 mph in July 2000.
