Glasgow City Council Notes

The Glasgow City Council met on Monday for a regular council meeting.

Action Items:

The council approved a professional services agreement between Morrison-Maierle and the City of Glasgow for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Permit Renewal not to exceed $6200.

Awarded a paving contract to Adams Asphalt in the amount of $45,610 for various asphalt patching jobs in the City of Glasgow. Those locations include 1000 Valley View, 908 7th Avenue North, 3rd Avenue South at Big Valley Water, 1007 6th Avenue South, 5th Avenue North-408 1st Street North, 820 11th Avenue North and 1023 6th Avenue South.

Approved a recommendation to increase the wage of Water/Wastewater Supervisor Adam Morehouse by .68 cents per hour.

The council will interview 3 candidates for the Chief of Police position next week. The names of the candidates have not been released by the City of Glasgow.

Glasgow Mayor Rod Karst thanked all city employees and volunteers who helped during the thunderstorm that hit Glasgow on July 3rd. Karst noted that storm drains became blocked by storm debris and water backed up all across the city as the water was unable to drain to the stormwater drain system. Karst said that once those storm drains were cleared of debris the water drained properly. For those living on the south side of Glasgow, everything worked properly with water drainage with the exception of the blocked storm drains. Karst said the gates on the levee which are used to drain stormwater were all open despite some claims the gates were closed. Karst said the only time those gates are closed is when the Milk River water level gets up to the level of the gates. The water backed up only because the storm drains were blocked from storm debris.
