AIS Inspectors Stop Boat with Invasive Mussels in Nashua

Congratulations, Nashua Watercraft Inspection Station Crew on A successful interception and protecting our waters!

On June 25 at 5:00pm, inspectors at the Nashua Watercraft Inspection Station, operated by the McCone Conservation District in partnership with FWP, intercepted a mussel-fouled cabin cruiser headed to Alaska.

The vessel, last launched in Michigan, was found with invasive mussels attached to the transom.

Inspectors immediately completed an on-site decontamination and secured the boat to its trailer, preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species. working together doesn't stop at state lines-Alaska AIS staff and Canadian provinces along the boat's travel route were notified and will continue follow-up with the boater.

Every inspection matters. Every interception helps protect our rivers, lakes, and reservoirs from invasive species.

Clean, Drain, Dry. Help keep Montana's waters-and those beyond- healthy for future generations.
