Glasgow School District and Montana Department of Labor and Industry Form Partnership

Glasgow Students are Getting a Head Start on Their Futures!

Glasgow School District and the Montana Department of Labor & Industry are working together to make a difference for students.

This fall, Glasgow Middle School added Jobs for Montana's Graduates to its courses. Students now start building job skills earlier, and those skills carry into the high school program that's already in place. Middle and high school staff recently took part in training on career-connected learning, which ties classroom lessons to real jobs and real opportunities.

Pre-apprenticeships are in the works as well. The district's career and technical education team and DLI's Career Development Specialists are looking to build pre-apprenticeship pathways for local students. These programs let students try out a trade, earn experience, and build a pathway into Registered Apprenticeship and good-paying Montana careers while they're still in school.

The superintendent has also invited the specialist to a future meeting between the school and the local hospital, where the specialist will share career resources that can support the school's work with the hospital. When schools and the Montana Department of Labor & Industry work together, students graduate ready for what comes next.
