Glasgow High School Introduces New Fundraising for Scottie Activities

Glasgow High School has launched a new fundraising campaign aimed at generating additional money for its athletic programs and improvements to school and athletic facilities.

The fundraiser asks Glasgow student-athletes to provide contact information for prospective donors, who will then receive requests to contribute to the campaign.

Glasgow Activities Director Mike Erickson told KLTZ/Mix-93 that all money raised will be deposited into the district’s internal activities account—a non-taxpayer-funded account. The money will benefit all Glasgow athletic programs and help pay for future facility improvements, equipment and other projects.

Erickson acknowledged that the new approach may generate questions within the community. He emphasized that the fundraiser will not replace or negatively affect the Glasgow Booster Club. Instead, it is intended to offset some of the expenses the Booster Club might otherwise be asked to cover, allowing additional money to be invested in school projects and improvements.

Student-athletes are not required to raise a specific amount and will not be disciplined or penalized if they do not collect any donations. The suggested $500 amount is an incentive goal rather than a requirement.

Athletes who raise more than $500 will receive 10 percent of the amount raised above that level on a Scottie gift card. The gift card can be used to help offset school or athletic fees the student may have paid.

Erickson said all Glasgow athletic programs will benefit from the fundraiser in some capacity. The district also plans to inform the public as projects and purchases are completed, allowing athletes, families and community members to see how their donations are being used.

School officials say the overall goal is to create additional resources that will benefit Glasgow’s student-athletes, athletic programs and school facilities for years to come.
