Thursday Wind Recap
Highway 2 was closed for about 5 hours on Thursday due to blowing dust, caused by winds that gusted over 80mph through northeast Montana. The section of Highway 2 from Dodson To Wolf Point was closed around noon and reopened just after 5 p.m. Several accidents were reported throughout northeast Montana due to the reduced visibility from blowing dust.
The peak gust in Glasgow was recorded at 82mph, with top sustained winds of 53mph. That 82mph mark is by far a new record for the month of May (previously 69 mph). The only higher gusts on record in Glasgow are 92 mph in October 2024 and 82 mph in July 2000.
The Glasgow School District canceled all rural bus routes scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
