Hicks leads CS Northridge over Montana State 72-65
Thursday, November 20th 2014
MONTANA ST-CSUN

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Stephan Hicks scored 23 points and Stephen Maxwell added 15 to lead Cal State Northridge to a 72-65 victory over Montana State on Wednesday night.

The Matadors had a 16-point lead with 5:27 remaining, but the Bobcats pulled within six, 66-60, with 19 seconds to play. The Matadors answered when Hicks made four free throws and Tre Hale-Edmerson scored to make it 72-63 with six seconds left.

Marcus Colbert hit two free throws for the Bobcats with four seconds remaining to cap the scoring.

Holm had 20 points and was 5 of 12 from beyond the arc. Colbert scored 15 points and Michael Dison 11 for Montana State (0-3), which shot just 22 of 64 for 34 percent from the floor.

CS Northridge (1-2) got its first win after losing against nationally-ranked San Diego State and Arizona to open its season.

Montana AD will conduct thorough coaching search
Wednesday, November 19th 2014

(Information in the following story is from: Missoulian, http://www.missoulian.com)

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Montana athletic director Kent Haslam says he's not going to set a deadline by which he plans to name a new football coach for the Grizzlies.

He tells the Missoulian he wants to work quickly, but also be judicious and take the time that is necessary to find the right person.

He notes the season is not over and coach Mick Delaney is retiring, not moving on to a new job, so Delaney7 can continue with recruiting and other efforts until a new coach is named.

Haslam says he wants to find the best person who knows what Griz football means to the community and the state, and who recruit great students and operate an honorable program.

Haslam says he's already heard from some interested coaches and he plans to meet with people he knows and trusts in the business to develop a list of possible candidates.

MSU up, UM down in FCS football polls
Tuesday, November 11th 2014
The FCS football polls were rearranged a bit Monday after a weekend that saw five teams of the top teams lose, including three-time defending champion North Dakota State.

New Hampshire is the new No. 1 in The Sports Network poll while Coastal Carolina got the nod in the coaches' poll.

Eastern Washington remains fifth in both polls after a 36-26 win over Montana that knocked the Grizzlies down to 15th in the coaches' poll and 16th in the media poll.

Montana State moved up three spots in both polls, to 12th in the Sports Network poll and 13th in the media poll after a 29-22 win over Portland State.

In the NAIA, Carroll holds onto its second-place ranking while Southern Oregon moves up a spot to fourth going into the final game of the regular season.

FCS, NAIA Football Polls Released for Week of October 27th
Tuesday, October 28th 2014
from KRTV

This weekend saw top teams fall in both the FCS and the NAIA. Two teams in the top five of the FCS poll lost and both of them were from the Big Sky, while another powerhouse in the NAIA also dropped a contest. After all of the chaos, here's how the rankings play out for your local teams.

North Dakota State remains at number one in the FCS poll, no surprise there. Eastern Washington moves down four spots to sixth after their loss to Northern Arizona. Bobcats move up two spots in their bye week. The Griz drop five spots for their loss to Cal Poly. And if the poll ranked more than 25 teams, Northern Arizona would come in at 27th. They are currently four votes away from being in the top 25, while Cal Poly would be right behind them at number 28.

NAIA polls also came out on Monday. Once again no surprises at number one, Morningside has owned that spot all season. Carroll moves up a spot after Baker loses. Southern Oregon is tied with Georgetown for the fifth spot. Rocky moves down eight spots after their 20-17 loss to Montana Western and Eastern Oregon moves back into the rankings after their 70-21 drubbing of MSU Northern. Montana Western also received three votes.
