Lawson And Kittleson Win 2015 Montana Governor's Cup
It was a windy and hot day for fishing during Day 2 of the Montana Governor’s Cup Walleye Tournament on Fort Peck Lake.
With temperatures over 90 degrees and winds reaching 25 mph things got a little hectic in the late afternoon as teams started to head in to the Fort Peck Marina to check in.
The team with the top weight on Day 2 was Sam Lawson and Clay Kittleson of Fort Peck who caught 20.5 pounds of walleye.
The big walleye of Day 2 was caught by Chad Formanek of Wheatland, Wyoming and Nick Reid of Colstrip, Montana with a 14.37 pound walleye.
The overall winner of the Montana Governor’s Cup Walleye Tournament ended up Sam Lawson and Clay Kittleson who had 14.02 pounds on Day 1 and 20.5 pounds on Day 2 for the total of 34.52 pounds.

Day 1 Results
It was a beautiful day on Fort Peck Lake on Friday as 200 teams hit the water trying to earn the title of Champions of the 28th Annual Montana Governor’s Cup Walleye Tournament.
Day 1 of the tourney featured hot conditions with temperatures over 90 degrees and a slight breeze.
The team of Jack Schilla of Valier, Montana and Pat Bannon of Deer Lodge, Montana had the top weight of the day with 23.94 pounds.
Bill Sinks of Jordan, Montana and Scott Griffin of Sunburst, Montana brought in 21.28 pounds for 2nd place and Kris Keller of Wolf Point, Montana and Glenn Eimers of White Lake, South Dakota caught 19.38 pounds for 3rd place after Day 1.
The team of Keller and Elmers also had the big walleye of Day 1 at 13.25 pounds.
200 teams are entered into the Governor’s Cup with close to $100,000 in cash and prizes awarded after the tourney is complete on Saturday.
Day 2 action will start at 7am on Saturday out of the Fort Peck Marina.

Fisherman's Breakfast Each Day
Relay for Life is having a Fisherman’s Breakfast July 10th & 11th at the Marina in Fort Peck. It will be from 4:30 - 9:30a.m. with all donations go for Relay for Life. The public is welcome. Served will be biscuits w/sausage gravy, pancakes, sausage, bacon & eggs, coffee, tea & hot chocolate. To go orders will also be available.
Youth Fishing Tournament & Water Carnival
The Montana Governor’s Cup Youth Fishing Tournament is Sat. July 11th at the Kiwanis Park Fishing Ponds. Registration is from 7:45-8:30a.m. with fishing from 8:30-11:30a.m. Lunch, provided by Thrivent Financial - Shelly George, will be from 11:30a.m. – 12noon followed by the awards. The Fort Peck Interpretive Center is having a Water Carnival Sat. July 11th, following the kids fishing tournament. This event begins at 1:30p.m. & will have fun water safety activities such as Electric Mini Boats, Relay Races, & the Hypothermia Challenge. Plus Face Painting, cotton candy, popcorn, outdoor lawn games & t-shirt printing (t-shirt provided). There will be a water balloon toss at 3p.m. & at 4p.m. they will end the Carnival with a pinata. Everything is free so bring the family out for a fun afternoon.

Jesse Reuter and Monica Reuter won the 2014 Montana Governor's Cup Walleye Tournament, adding another 13.5 pounds of walleye on Saturday to total 44.05 pounds over the two days.
