Glasgow Softball Camp

There will be a Glasgow Softball Camp for grades K-8th from 1 - 3:30p.m. Fri. April 19th at the Cal Ripken Field. Cost is $40 per participant. Registration forms at available at the Glasgow Rec Department, Irle School, or Middle School. There is also a Coach’s Clinic from 4-5p.m., free to all coaches. The Soroptimist Thrift Store is open Mon. – Fri. 10a.m. – 4p.m., & Saturdays from 11a.m. – 3p.m. Some items at the Thrift Store are 2 queen size bed frames, plenty of baby strollers, 2 little kid’s bikes - 1 girl’s & 1 boy’s & a dart board from the Clansman Lounge, sports shoes & golf clubs & they have Spring, Easter, & Summer clothing out. As always, additional items are added daily; donations are always welcome; proceeds used locally. The Thrift Store will be closed Saturday, April 20th.

The Kiwanis Club’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt is Sat. April 20th at 11a.m. sharp at Hoyt Park, by the swimming pool. There are 3 age groups, 1 – 3, 4-5, & 6-8. This is sponsored by Reynold’s Market & FMDH. For questions call Lisa, 263-1250. There will be a Free-will donation box for the Swimming Pool Fund at the Easter Egg Hunt for anyone wishing to donate.

Nashua Lions Club's Annual "We've Got Talent"

“We’ve Got Talent”, Nashua Lions Annual Talent Show, featuring area talent with sound system provided by Pippin DJ & Karaoke, is Sun. April 28th at 2p.m. at the Nashua School Gym. There will be 3 age groups – 10 & under, 11 – 16 years old & 17 & over. Concessions will be available, admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students & those 6 & under get in free. Proceeds fund Lions Club projects; everyone is welcome to attend. They are no longer accepting entries as they are full. They thank everyone for their support.

Cuisine For the Cure is Thurs. April 25th at 6p.m. at the Cottonwood Inn. Enjoy an evening of foods from around the world & help raise money for tor the Valley County Medical Relief Fund (HOPE). The line-up so far includes Pies, Mardi Gras, Greek, Filipino, Vietnamese, Mexican, Homemade Candies & Desserts, Breakfast Cheesecakes, Scandinavian, Italian & the Lustre Ladies will have German food. Alzheimer's Workshops coming to Glasgow

Whether you’re caring for Alzheimer’s patients in the professional setting or a loved one at home, MSU Extension has a great multi-day opportunity coming up. All happening at the Cottonwood, Tues. April 23rd will include a day-session focused on those professionally working with residents in long-term care facilities followed by an evening session open to all discussing estate planning related to the disease. Wednesday’s focus will be on family caregivers with a special event for youth. Events will start at 9a.m. both days & preregistration is encouraged. Call Valley County Extension, 228-6241.

Jeff Jurgens Memorial Scholarship

Eligible graduating seniors from Valley County high schools are encouraged to apply for a Jeff Jurgens Memorial Scholarship, presented by the Scottie Booster Club. Application deadline for the scholarships is May 1, 2019. The scholarships are funded by proceeds from the annual Jeff Jurgens Memorial Basketball Tournament, which finished its 21st consecutive year last month. The tournament, as well as the namesake scholarship, are a memorial for Jeff Jurgens, a Glasgow youth & dedicated athlete who died in 1998. In order to qualify for scholarship consideration, applicants must be on course to graduate in 2019 from a Valley County high school. They must also have participated in at least one season of high school basketball or plan to enter a health-related course of study at a post-secondary institution. Other criteria include athletic & academic achievement, community service & leadership, as well as personal integrity. Applications are available from the counselors at any Valley County high school, Glasgow, Hinsdale, Nashua, Opheim, & Frazer, or by emailing Andrew McKean at montanamckean@gmail.com.
